2008 Accommodation of the Year Award Winners!

Yesterday was the 2008 Central Nova Tourist Association’s annual Conference and Award Banquet.  I attended the full day of workshops, and D’Arcy joined me for the banquet after school.  You can just imagine our delight when it came time for the Accommodation Award to be announced, and the following was read:

“Centrally located and minutes from the Bay of Fundy in Truro’s West End, on the corner of Prince and Broad Street, lies one of the town’s finest early 20th  century homes.  This majestic, four star Bed & Breakfast is on a large, private treed lot and has a rich European flavour, accented with decorative moldings and leaded glass windows.  When visitors arrive they are greeted in a grand entryway with dark, beamed ceilings and a beautifully carved, graceful curving staircase to the second floor.  Each room is decorated with antique furnishings and keepsakes which capture the imagination.

Submitted to CNTA on the “Above & Beyond” comment cards, one visitor from New York states:  “Beautiful, tasteful, comfortable room, thoughtful amenities, above and beyond what would be expected, beautiful set table, excellent breakfast served on elegant fine china, friendly, welcoming family service.”

Another submission by a visitor from Philadelphia writes:  “As an outdoor and travel writer who has visited many places and written about some; I can attest to the fact that this is by far among the best, possibly “THE BEST” B&B in which we’ve ever stayed.  The quality of the lodging, the kindness and hospitality of the owners and the above and beyond touches makes this B&B one of which Nova Scotia – Canada – in fact, should boast.”

Visitor comments on their website attest to innkeepers Anne & D’Arcy McDonah’s attention to detail, tradition and maritime hospitality which will keep visitors returning.  The Central Nova Tourist Association is pleased to bestow the CNTA 2008 Accommodation of the Year Award to Belgravia B&B.”

Wow!  A huge “Thank You” to those who sent in comment cards on our behalf.  I haven’t  stopped smiling yet!
