The Truro Daily NewsTRURO – Anne McDonah said networking with other tourism operators is a valuable tool to become informed about activities and accommodations offered in the region.
The owner of Truro-based Belgravia Bed and Breakfast is looking forward to meeting with other industry participants at the Central Nova Tourist Association’s annual conference and banquet while discussing many issues facing them today.
“I go every year just to see what is going on in the area and to see other tourism operators in the area,” said McDonah.
She said working together to create packages for visiting guests is an effective way to attract more people to the region while giving them a reason to stay longer.
“It’s very beneficial for us to work with other operators and have a good relationship with each other,” said McDonah.
The 29th annual conference will be held at the Best Western Glengarry in Truro March 5 and 6.
Joyce Mingo, the association’s executive director, said more than 80 people are expected to attend this year’s event.
She said there are many small operators in the region who benefit from networking at the conference that traditionally brings many new ideas forward.
There will be an overview of the industry, information about a new
marketing program promoting three distinct shores, a visual show of snapshots from Central Nova Scotia, a silent auction, information about marketing levis and the introduction of a new Visitor Satisfaction Program which is already providing positive results to participants.
The 2008 tourism awards will be presented during the Saturday evening banquet.
